Worm. Bird.

I woke up at 5am today to go to work.

Yeah, work.

I got hired at Comcast to do tech support. I’ve got six weeks of classes, Monday through Friday, from 8am to 5pm.

Sigh. Work.

So I’m trying something different. Instead of going to bed late and sleeping in as long as I can, waiting until the last moment, and rushing to work to make it on time, I’m trying a new schedule.

When I get off of work at 5pm I come home, eat dinner, and get in bed with my book/laptop for 30-45 minutes. Then I go to sleep. Early. Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday nights I was asleep by 7:30pm.

Then I wake up between 4am and 5am the next day. I’ve got plenty of time to get ready for work and do things that I’d like to do. I get to work early. I’m relaxed and prepared and ready for my day.

We’ll see how long this lasts…

  1. Welcome to the working week
Oh, I know it don’t thrill you, I hope it don’t kill you
    Welcome to the working week
You gotta do it till you’re through, so you better get to it

  2. I feel your pain! I’m up at 5:30 am. I have to get myself and 2 kids ready, drop off both kids at their schools, and be in San Ramon by 8:30am. My hubby has to be in Union City by 6:00 am, so he is up at 4:30 am. Sucks, huh? I’m usually in bed between 10 or 11 pm. 6 hrs is good sleeping for me. Our friend has been trying to get him at job at Comcast for a while. Just waiting for a position to open up that pays enough to pay the bills. Welcome to the Early Risers Club! Pretty soon you’ll find yourself up at 5:00 am even on your days off!

  3. Yep, I fully expect to up at 5am on the weekends. I don’t want to get into the habit of sleeping in, because that jacks up the sleep schedule for Sunday night, Monday morning. It just sets you up for a bad Monday.

  4. Awww hell at least you’re working! 🙂

I have been job hunting for the past 3 months and only 2 interviews. Guess I’m being too picky.

    Is it Comcast in Livermore?

  5. Thanks to my good friend, a one Mr. James Neil Logue III, I was hired at the Concord location.

  6. 5am…yuck. Why do they even PUT 5am on the clock? 5pm? Sure. Love it–don’t want to be caught up in traffic but still…I’m liking 5pm. Congrats on the job though! surf cuz

  7. Way to go James, and way to go Tee for actually getting the job! I am so happy for you (notice I did not say proud, I am ALWAYS proud of you no matter what) and know you will do a great job!

  8. I’m not positive on this but…. I do belive that you may just be becoming an adult. Of course I think that occasionaly about myself and then seconds later when I do something stupid and realize that I am in no way an adult. My inner child loves me!!!!
