Bassmasters

I went fishing with Dave again today out in the Delta. It was so hot! Once you drop down into Pleasanton on 580 the temperature spikes 20 degrees, and another 10 once you reach Discovery Bay. It cooled down a bit once on the water.

I’ve been chompin’ at the bit lately to do some more fishing. The bass bite has been hot lately. Dave and I have been out three times in the last week, and all three times we’ve caught fish. Today, however, we caught some big bass.

From the time we hook up the boat ’til the time we’re in the water is about 30 minutes. Dave lives right around the corner from a nice boat launch. It’s usually packed with people on ski boats, jet skis, and bass boats. At the end of the first tiny slough is a nice little beach with a roped off swim area, replete with a small raft to lounge on. Once out in the main thoroughfares Dave likes to open it up, and we hit speeds upwards of 50 knots per hour. His boat hauls ass.

We’ve discovered something about beer and fishing. We don’t really drink much out there. We’re much too busy working a plastic worm or crankbait to pause and sip. We’re pretty into the fishing part. There’s plenty of time to drink when you’re sitting on the couch. Out on the boat, you’re pluggin’.

Anyway, enough rambling.
